Nancy R. Chalut
Nancy R. Chalut graduated in 1977 with her BA from Guelph University - continuing in 1979 at Fanshawe College, London earning her diploma in cabinetmaking. It was in 2004 that she started an Academic Drawing apprenticeship under Pauline Bradshaw. Chalut went on in 2007 to apprentice under Anne-Marie Kornachuk to learn oil painting. Chalut's experience as a industrial woodworker and in interior design all show through in her understanding of oil paint and realism, creating pieces that come alive on the canvas.
She states, "Thru the medium of oil on canvas, I paint in the realism style of the Renaissance Masters. In observation of our natural environment, I seek to discover an anthropomorphic relationship. An eclectic array of subject matter is used; my attraction being the intensities of colour and its duplication process. The subject selected is then placed in the tense confinement of canvas parameters in reflection and note of habitat loss."
