Karine Chartrand "Ki Artiste"
Creating has always been essential to Karine. From a very young age, art became an instinctive means of expression, an almost visceral necessity. A graduate of UQAM with a degree in Visual and Media Arts Education, she taught art in schools throughout the Lanaudière region for more than ten years before feeling a deep need to reconnect with her own creativity.
In 2017, her first leave of absence allowed her to rediscover her artistic drive. This period of pause became a turning point: painting emerged as an obvious professional path. Gradually, she developed a distinctive visual language, characterized by a deliberate blend of spontaneity and technical mastery. Her style, both raw and vibrant, is rooted in a search for authenticity and freedom. She explores colour as a vehicle for emotion, combining dynamic textures, bold brushwork and animal symbolism.
In 2022, the birth of her first son helped solidify this transition. Karine then decided to leave teaching to devote herself entirely to her artistic practice, fully embracing her creativity.
Since then, she has pursued numerous professional opportunities, including art symposiums, exhibitions and cultural projects. Among her major accomplishments, she collaborated on the creation of 21 public artworks for the MRC de Montcalm, a significant achievement that reflects the recognition her work has earned within the artistic community.
