Lina Loisel

I was born in Gaspésie, where the fields, the trees, the birds, the animals, the lakes and the sea fed me, without forgetting the people, each with their own story.

In the mid-1970s, I was admitted to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Montreal as a self-taught student. My journey will be cut short by a strike. I enroll in the Bonsecours ceramic workshop, and I discover a medium that really speaks to me.

Self-taught multidisciplinary, I take advantage of different materials that inspire me and lead me on unknown paths. My workshop is a laboratory where I let the brush, the trowel, the scissors, the canvas, the fabrics, the metal, the epoxy and the varnish speak. The material and the color fascinate me. Some training encouraged me to learn about different products and techniques that allow me to bring materials back to life and combine them with ceramics.
